Creating a better future, one home at a time

Ask us how green design creates better outcomes for your wellbeing, your wallet, and all of our futures.

A green home doesn’t just enhance energy efficiency, air quality and thermal performance - it represents a shift away from traditional building practices. By going above and beyond the basic New Zealand Building Code standard (delivering homes that just comply), Green Homes deliver homes that are thoughtfully considered and designed to exceed your expectations.

So what makes our homes greener?

1

Energy Efficiency

We don’t just throw in energy efficient appliances and tick a box. We design homes that barely need them at all. The truth is, there’s much more to it than that. From passive solar gain and airtight construction to energy-smart systems and solar-ready design, it’s the combination of proven, integrated techniques that makes the real difference. This is how we create homes that genuinely cost less to run and perform better for years to come. Thoughtful design, long-term value, and natural comfort are built into every detail.

2

Clean, Healthier Air

You can’t always see a healthy home, but you can feel it. Wellbeing starts with the air you breathe. That’s why we focus on high-quality vapour barriers to reduce moisture, natural airflow through smart design, filtered ventilation systems, and low-tox materials. Together, they support better breathing, fewer allergens, and a calmer, more restorative space. It’s about creating a healthier home environment you can rely on every day, with cleaner air and a noticeable difference in how you feel inside.

3

Thermal Performance

True comfort begins with smart design that works with nature, not against it. We carefully balance solar orientation, thermal drafting, airtight construction, insulation, and thermal mass. This allows our homes to stay naturally warm in winter and cool in summer, without needing overworked systems or wasting energy. The result is consistent comfort you can count on. Our thermal approach means you get a reliable, efficient home that feels good year-round and keeps working for you over time.

Why building in Auckland needs a green approach

Building in Auckland isn’t harder, it just demands smarter thinking. From steep sites and tight sections to high humidity and sudden weather extremes, every challenge is also a chance to build better. The Unitary Plan opens up real potential, but only if your design rises to meet it. Whether you’re developing a complex site, planning a knockdown rebuild, subdividing your backyard, or building on a flat section in an established subdivision, we’ve got the skills, systems, and green options to match. From full custom design and builds to turnkey house and land packages, we tailor your level of performance to suit what’s required and what matters most to you. The result? Smarter homes for Auckland that feel better, perform better, and cost less to run, because they’re built for where you live and how you want to live.

Here's what our Green Home owners have to say

You don’t have to take our word for it when we say we’re the “only” Green home expert in New Zealand, plenty of happy customers will back us up.

I love the look and feel of my home and Green Homes delivered on getting me into it! Bruce was absolutely fantastic throughout and had trust in Matt taking care of the build. Anything we had to navigate along the way got sorted and even left me in a better place as a result. Appreciate what the team did to help get all the 3-month maintenance sorted too. The options for the design also gave me plenty of space to put my own spin on things as well.

March 2025

Green Homes Auckland are building for us currently, and so far so good. A professional approach. We’re half way through the build and making great progress. The team’s approach to attention to detail and planning has been awesome. It is important we can trust that things are moving ahead and that quality is good. Happy on all fronts right now. Can’t wait for the finished product.
